Pretty Litter

Technology has come a loooong way and so has your cat’s litter box!  Now your litter box can tell you what’s going on inside your cat’s body.  Sort of.  Pretty Litter is a silica-based cat litter that changes color based on any potential health issues happening with your cat.  For example:

Alkaline

Blue: The litter turns a blue color if your cat has a lot of alkaline in its urine.  Alkaline is an indicator that your kitty has a urinary tract infection or that one may be forming.

Typical

Yellow/Green: Litter that remains a dark yellow or olive green color indicates that your cat’s urine is within a healthy, typical range.  You typically (no pun intended) want to see a yellowish-green color in the litter box.

Blood

Red: While this one seems like a bit of a no brainer, your cat can have traces of blood in its urine and it not be visible to the naked eye, especially when it is mixed with litter that also has brownish flecks in it. Detecting the traces early can help you to eliminate the severity of an infection that may be forming in your cat.

Cats can’t talk to you and tell you what’s wrong but now their litter can.  If you notice discoloration in the litter and you see visible signs of your cat feeling discomfort, you can have a much more informed conversation with your vet.

Let’s park a disclaimer right here… Neither Pretty Litter or Barkly Grove is making a claim that the litter can fully diagnose your cat.  It’s simply a tool to help you keep an eye on your cat’s health.

We’ve all come to expect that litter keeps the house smelling fresh and clean no matter what the cats deposit in the box. This is no exception.  Their formula is even 99.9% dust-free so you won’t have as many litter particles floating through the air at potty time or when you go to clean the litter box.

Here’s one of our favorite things about Pretty Litter; it’s a subscription.  That means you simply choose the number of cats you have and each month they deliver the right amount of litter to your door.

We’ve become a world of subscriptions, Amazon deliveries, and even dinner deliveries.  This is not a trend I plan to stop anytime soon.  We’re busy folks.  The more that can be done for me on an automagic schedule, the more time I have to do the things I love with the people and pets I love. The less time you have to spend worrying about the litter or litter box, the more time you have to spend playing with your cats. That sounds like a great win to me.
